Sony has to be aiming to set some kind of record with its latest video game console PlayStation 3. First it offered one 20GB and one 60GB version, then they built a second 60 GB version without the Emotion Engine (hardware-acceleration of PS2 games) for Europe. Then it decided to launch an 80GB version in America that was similar to the European 60 GB version, but had a bigger harddrive. Now it seems that Sony is planning another 40 GB version that will have even less hardware emulation support. Along with the 80 GB version Sony also launched a Starter Pack in Europe to try and boost sales.
Now it seems that a second package will come to Europe, but instead of MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man, this package will contain Heavenly Sword and F1. To make it even trickier, this package is only intended to be released in France. However it may be that the Starter Pack will be replaced by this new pack, the information we’ve received wasn’t entirely clear on that point.
Rumors are also going around that Sony will launch a package bundled with the upcoming Blu-ray release of the Spider-Man 3 movie. And when the 40GB version arrives, costing a mere $399 USD, the 80GB version will drop to $499. We’re a bit curious to find out how people that just bought the 80GB version will react when Sony once again slashes prices. When Sony did it to the 60 GB version, people were not happy.
