OCZ has launched another processor cooler and just like the previous models this one is also a so called tower cooler. OCZ Vendetta uses heatpipes for moving the heat from the processor to the upper heatsink, but the design of the base plate is a bit different. Instead of a solid base, the cooler has heatpipes in direct contact with the processor. In theory this should result in a more efficient heat transfer as the heat doesn’t have to move through another material before reaching the heatpipes, and finally the actual heatsink.
“While traditional heat pipe CPU coolers typically use a solid base plate design, the Vendetta’s three copper heat pipes make direct contact with the processor allowing for maximum heat transfer at a more rapid pace.”
Since we’ve seen this design before we know that it works, and that there is potential, it could very well be a product worth investing in. OCZ has equipped the cooler with a 92 mm fan with a specified noise level of 22-34 dBA.
