Toshiba Satellite 205 and 215 series are two of Toshiba’s more value-oriented laptop series, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get powerful hardware with them. The two have namely been updated with new models and some new options. The AMD-based Satellite 205 and 215 series can now be had with the AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-64 Gold Edition and the latest AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-XX models. The standard models of the Satellite 215 series will still be based on the Radeon X1200 IGP with the exception of the new high-end model that will ship with ATI’s Mobility Radeon HD 2400 with 128 discrete memory.
The 215 series comes with a 15.4″ widescreen TruBrite display with 1280×800 px resolution, up to 250 GB, a DVD SuperMulti drive and options like an embedded 1.3 megapixel Webcam, 802.11b/g WLAN and Labelflash technology. The high-end model also has a fingerprint reader for extra security.
The 205 series is the bigger brother of the 215 series as it sports a 17″ display with 1440×900 px resolution and will be available with the ATI Radeon Mobility HD 2600 chip. The other features are pretty much identical to the 215 series, with the exception of the high-end Harman-Kardon speakers that comes with the flagship model.
The high-end models can also be had with an HD DVD drive for the ultimate multimedia experience, Toshiba implies.
