Corsair has announced a new series of power supplies that has been designed for the very most fastidious enthusiasts. The new TX series has a single, dedicated +12 V rail and a +80 % efficiency all the way from 20 % up to 100 % load. To begin with there will be two models rated at 650 W and 750 W, where the first have two 8 (6+2) pin PCIe power connectors and the latter four PCIe power connectors. Despite the rather extreme specifications, the power supplies are surprisingly quiet as they are cooled by a single fan, 120 mm inside the 650 W model, 140 mm in the 750 W.
Both the Corsair CMPSU-650TX and CMPSU-750TX models are available immediately and cost $179 and $199 USD respectively. They are covered by a five year warranty.
