Cooler Master Hydra 8800 is a graphics card cooler which is quite different from most other coolers. As the name implies it is designed for NVIDIA’s GeForce 8800 series and specifically the top models; GeForce 8800 GTX/Ultra. The thing that makes Hydra 8800 stand out is the fact that it uses both air and water to remove the heat from the graphics card. At a first glance it looks like just any graphics card cooler, but when you look closer you see the two nipples for the water cooling. The cooler is very quiet with a rated noise level of only 19 dBA and this is thanks to the RPM fan spinning at only 1800 RPM.
The aluminum block has a copper base for better heat transfers and according to Cooler Master’s own tests the fan is not just a security measure but also improves the cooling when you’re using water cooling. More information on the cooler can be found over at Cooler Master’s website, unfortunately we’re still awaiting information on the price and availability.
