Intel and Transmeta has reached an agreement and has ended the law suit where Transmeta claimed Intel was infringing on Transmeta intellectual property. Intel will pay Transmeta a one-time sum of $150 million USD, which equals the total revenue of Transmeta for the last three years, and $20 million per year over the coming five years, adding up to a total of $250 million. Intel will gain non-exclusive access to Transmeta’s patents, including patents acquired within the coming ten year, and the longRun and LongRun2 technologies, including any future improvements. Whether Intel will use any of these patents remains to be seen, but it was most likely mainly interested in settling the suit as fair and fast as possible.
