There have already been several reports about how NVIDIA abandoned the old GXX naming patterna and instead use a DXY patter, where X would be a number indicating the generation (8, 9, 10 etc.) and Y which segment it belongs to; Mainstream, Performance or Enthusiast. The previous reports have been rather scarce and somewhat confusing, but the article posted by Kris over at DailyTech summarize the new namning pattern quite well.

The 65nm replacements of the GeForce 8 series have dual names as they are the first to be named according to the new pattern (G92 is also known as D8M), which has caused some minor confusion as some reports have used the old name, but most the new one.

The coming high-end chips will thus be called D9E, the performance segment D9M and the mainstream D9M. The exact specifications of are of course far from final yet. DirectX 10.1, PCIe 2.0, DisplayPort and new PureVideo features seems like a qualified guess.
