This is the third report in a very short period of time contradicting the former report. The first piece of news stated that PlayStation 3 40 GB would sport the new and much, much cooler 65 nm version of Cell. Sony later officially denied this saying that the overall lower consumption would be due to the use of other more power efficient components. However in a recent interview, Sony VP Kaz Hirai stated that the 40 GB version will indeed use the 65 nm version of Cell. The RSX chip will still be 90 nm, but the 65 nm Cell alone will be enough to reduce the power drainage and heat quite a lot.
