AMD seems to have sped up the launch of the next generation GPU, RV770, now that the demand for the current RV670 (Radeon HD 3800 series) has sky-rocketed. AMD has sent out test samples of the 55nm RV770 to partners and the chip is slated to arrive before the end of the second quarter. This has had its effects on NVIDIA and made them speed up the launch of the “G100,” the real D9x series. Exactly when the first cards based on these chips will appear remains uncertain, but it should be around the same time AMD/ATI decides to launch RV770.
