Futuremark has announced the formation of Futuremark Games Studio. Futuremark has given us tons and tons of eye candy, but all of them have been in the form of pre-recorded benchmarks. Not once have we ever gotten a chance to play and control the mouthwatering goodness that is 3DMark. The 3DMark series has always offered cutting edge graphics built on the very latest of DirectX technologies, but “soon” we’ll be able to play games developed by Futuremark. Whether this will be an enticing adventure with good graphics (such as Half-Life 2), or a game focusing completely on graphics forgetting about substance (like Crysis), time will tell.

“Futuremark Games Studio is committed to developing original IP games with the highest quality game play combined with our established track record of creating blow-your-socks-off visuals”, said Tero Sarkkinen, CEO of Futuremark Corporation. “For years, our fans have been asking us when will we start making games. Very soon they are going to get it – and then some!”

Futuremark Games Studio will be attending Game Developers Conference 2008 in San Francisco where they can be found at the Nordic Games Studios Pavilion.
