Radeon HD Mobility is simply the mobile version of ATI’s Radeon graphics card series, and while they are not as powerful as the desktop equivalent, they are still well suited for laptops and when it comes to gaming, they’re certainly to prefer over the generic kind. The next Radeon HD 3000 series will arrive when AMD decides to launch the RS780 chipset in the west. Our eagle-eyed friends over at MadBoxPC, noticed more than a few new entries in the Catalyst 8.2 beta drivers that reveals a whole set of new chips.
Mobility Radeon HD 3100, 3200 and 3300 can all be seen among the rest of the graphics chips in the list. These are based on the different flavors of the upcoming RS780 chipset;
- Radeon HD 3100 – RS780C: No UVD or Hybrid CorssFire.
- Radeon HD 3200 – RS780 (780G) – Has the above
- Radeon HD 3300 – RS780D (790GX) – The above, plus CrossFireX
Two more versions are mentienod in the drivers; RS780M, RS780MC, but their product names are not revealed.
They also discovered the line;
“Gemini Mobility Radeon HD2600XT” = ati2mtag_m76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_958B
This can only one thing really. ATI is about to bring CrossFire to laptops.
