NVIDIA has revealed more details on what the acquisition of AGEIA would bring. Even though nothing was revealed during the conference call, CEO Jen-Hsun Huang did reveal quite a lot when asked about it during the Q&A. NVIDIA intends to port PhysX into its GPGPU project CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture). CUDA is a programming interface, which is supported by the GeForce 8 graphics card series. The port is completely software-based and is easily implemented.

The goal is to encourage people to buy more graphics cards as they would be able to use one card for physics in some games, and run SLI in others. According to Huang, this has spurred game developers to use PhysX more frequently as more users will be able to take advantage of the PhysX effects.
