Intel is planning on adding a new series to its Core 2 Duo family, the E7000 series. The E7000 series is based on Intel’s 45nm architecture and will become the new entry model series, much like E4000 series was with the 65nm architecture. The processors of this new series will sport 1066MHz FSB and 3MB L2 cache. The first model will be the Core 2 Duo E7200, operating at 2.53GHz. The price will be $133 when it arrives on May 11.

Intel will also launch a new dual-core Celeron on the same day, Celeron E1400. This new model will replace the E1200 model, but cost the same; $53. The clock frequency is said to be 2.0GHz, in addition to the 512KB L2 cache and 800MHz FSB.

Both of these are more or less begging to be overclocked. Even though the smaller cache of the E7000 series may limit the performance somewhat, the lower bus and higher multipliers should make it a good overclocker and make up for any performance lost due to the smaller L2 cache.
