Liquid nitrogen pipeline installed in the lab

About a year ago we contacted AGA to negotiate a deal for liquid nitrogen deliveries. We were consuming quite large amounts at the time, and felt that both we and AGA would benefit from a closer cooperation. When we first contacted them they were wondering if we wanted to install a pipeline. We laughed both hard and long at the idea, because that was just a bit more than we needed at the time, but now, a year later, we felt that maybe a pipeline wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

We simply contacted AGA again and asked them if they could install a small reservoir outside the building. Below is a picture of one, and on the wall in the lab there’s now a tap, which you can use to fill you cryo container or thermos.

Editor-in-chief Anton started out strong by spilling a liter or two directly on the floor while trying to deep freeze a pizza slice. There’s now a sign hanging above the tap saying that the pipes contain liquid cold.
