Toshiba is planning great things for it SSD venture and the shared product assortment that now contains models ranging from 8GB up to 256GB, will soon expand to 512GB. During a recent press conference, Toshiba’s President Shozo Saito said that the global SSD market for portables will increase by 313% with each year from 2008 to 2011. Such an increase would mean that in 2011, we will have SSDs in 25% of all laptops.

Except from expanding storage capacity, dropping NAND prices will be very beneficial for the development of cheaper SSD devices. There was no detailed information on when we will see SSDs with 512GB storage capacity, but we’re pretty certain that we will be there long before 2011.
