Korean SSD maker Mtron has announced a new series of Solid State Drives (SSD) called PRO 7500. Through new technological advancements, Mtron was able to push the already impressive read and write speeds of its older SSDs to new heights. The PRO 7500 series sports a sequential read rate of 130MB/s and sequential write at 120MB/s. The drives are (of course) designed for industrial purposes, servers and workstations, but there’s nothing stopping you from buying one and installing it in your regular PC, except maybe from the yet unannounced price. The series will be available with capacities of 32-128GB in both 2.5″ (<64GB) and 3.5″ format (<128GB).
For dependence, the drives have 7-bit Error Correction Code (ECC), use the SATA 3Gbps interface (SATA II) and the MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is estimated to 1 million hours. The series will become available in June, but will be on display at DS Expo/10th Data Storage Expo in Tokyo from May 14th to 16th, and Cebit Australia 2008 from May 20th to 22nd.
