MSI N280GTX OC HydroGen

Small preview image

MSI usually launches several graphics card models based on the different graphics card model ATI and NVIDIA have to offer. Unique coolings have been seen before like the crown jewel the passive cooled GeForce 8800GT. MSI has a long experience from working with passive and quiet air coolers, but its latest graphics card moves into new territory for MSI, water cooling. MSI N280GTX OC HydroGen is shipped with a water block from factory, but MSI has also taken the opportunity to boost the frequencies by a whole lot.

The reference for GeForce GTX 280 is 600MHz GPU clock, but MSI N280GTX OC HydroGen has a core operating at 700MHz. This results in quite a lot more heat, but thanks to the more efficient water cooling the temperatures are still kept at bay. In fact, MSI even claims that the overall temperature is lower, up to 10 degrees Celsius, thanks to the new and improved water cooling, which of course also works wonders with the noise.

We’ve managed to acquire some early photos of MSI N280GTX OC HydroGen that you can enjoy while we expect more information shortly, I.e. price and availability.

MSI has also launched a new model of GeForce GTX 280, which sports the same clock frequency but uses NVIDIA’s reference cooler, called MSI N280GTX-T2D1G SuperOC.
