ASUS is expanding its portfolio in most ways imaginable and in 2008 it has established itself as a potent notebook maker, not the least through the launch of the Eee PC concept. ASUS has numerous regular notebooks too and much like every other manufacturer it is looking to add new features and technologies to coming products. ASUS seems to have found a possibly adaption in touchscreen, just like HP. DigiTimes reports that ASUS is expected to launch its first notebook with touchscreens in the first half of 2009.
The size of the screen looks undecided but by the looks of it there will be either an 11.1″ or 12″ model. Another interesting detail is that ASUS’ new venture is largely focused on the next version of Windows, Windows 7, which kind of contradicts a launch in 2009. Whether it means that ASUS is planning to hold off the launch until the new operating system arrives in 2010 is something the story doesn’t tell..
