It’s a well known fact that computers are reaching new levels of minimalism for each day that passes and this is of course a good thing from many different perspectives. You eventually arrive at a point where it will cost you more than you gain to shave off another millimeter, there are always those who are willing to go that extra mile. One of these companies is CompuLab that recently launched what it called the world smallest PC. The Fit-PC Slim lacks active cooling and fits inside the back pocket of your jeans.
As you might have guessed it uses far from the most exciting of hardware, but inside Fit-PC you will find a 500MHz Geode LX processor and 512MB RAM which enough to run Windows XP. Over at ExtremeTech they have taken a closer look at Fit-PC, which truly lives by the mantra less is more, but we’re still not convinced about its market value.
You will have to search long and hard to find a smaller PC, but if you want the most extreme you will have to pay an extreme price for anything but breathtaking performance. The entire review can be found over at ExtremeTech.com.
