Sony has been making ultraportable laptops for many years, but perhaps with slightly better specifications than those that the current netbooks sports. Sony never targeted the average consumer with these models, unlike the netbook market that does precisely that. Even if Sony may launch its own budget model sometime in the future, there is nothing stopping them from still making the same feature-packed Vaio models it always has. We have covered Sony VAIO TT190NIB in some of our previous reports, and does indeed look like the most complete 11″ notebook we’ve seen so far.
It support dual 128GB SSDs, 11.1″ LED backlit display, HDMI output and Blu-ray player, which means there isn’t much missing here. Over at CNET they have taken a closer look at Sony’s luxurious model and the overall grade is quite good. Sony Vaio TT have rather few drawbacks for those who are looking for an ultraportable with decent performance good battery time.
Though the only real problems is a major one for most people. Sony is asking for quite a big pile of cash. Prices start at around $2,100 and goes up to more than twice that if you want the fully featured model with dual SSDs and such. In other words about ten times the price of the 10″ netbooks that are starting to find their way onto the market.
Hardly what you call bang for the buck, but to be honest that doesn’t really lower the “please give me now” factor .
