Mobile phones and media players, they are becoming harder to keep apart and the perhaps best example of that is Apple iPod Touch and iPhone that are almost identical, the phone capabilities of the latter is the only real difference. Now that well known media player manufacturer iRiver has launched its first mobile phone not surprisingly it focuses on the multimedia features. iRiver Wave is the name of the phone and with a large widescreen LCD it has some similarities with Apple’s iPhone.
The display measures 3″ and has a resolution at 480×272 pixels sporting touch technology for easy navigation. The mobile supports of the known media formats for both music and video. The material is either stored on the 4GB integrated memory or the miniSD memory card.
The phone can also browse the web through the WiFi connection and can connect to Bugs Music Service, iRiver’s iTunes equivalent.
If, when and at what price the phone will find its way outside of Korea is uncertain at this time.
