Last year Lian Li launched a pretty interesting creation in the form of its PC-888 case. It had a blue anodized theme and the shape was reminiscent of a sail and Lian Li managed to create headlines worldwide. PC-888 will only be built in 500 units to maintain the exclusive feeling. There’s just no chance/risk that you will run into a similar var, but unfortunately it’s not all good.
When Bit-tech decided to look closer at the case it seems like Lian Li’s design concept has become a bit too vain to be optimal in terms of function. The case has an impressive build quality and a design that stands out, but neither function nor performance are up to par with other high-profile cases, while the usability may not be the best because of the sail design and somewhat cramped space.
Together with a store price around $500 it all adds up to an unreasonable equation. Lian Li PC-888 is an interesting design concept for those that want to stand out, but it may not be the best case around.
