Phenom II X4 has turned out to be a real monster at extreme overclocking and a lot of this comes from the uninhibited love for almost ridiculously low temperatures. We have earlier reported on how the Finnish overclockers Macci, Sampsa and SF3D broke the 3DMark05 world record with an AMD Phenom II X4 at 6.3GHz. They have now published a video from this event where they also show how AMD’s latest processor can handle temperatures down to -240°C, which is starting to get very close to absolute zero at around -273C°.
With extreme temperatures comes extreme overclocking results and where most processors has a limit, Phenom II X4 just seems to scream for more cooling. The video they have published shows not only the new world record in 3DMark05, 45,474 points, but also how they reach the highest known frequency with a quad-core, 6.5GHz.
