Finally the new version of Dell’s touchscreen tablet is out. The model is called D and for circa $1,500 you get a Tablet with multi-touch screen, HSDPA and a specified battery time of 11 hours (6 cell battery). The multi-touch support is especially interesting for those who are going to upgrade to Windows 7 later this year, since this operating system will improve the support for these features. The tablet is available today already at Dell’s business website, which also reveals the intended buyers.

The computer contains the following in the base configuration:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) processor 1,4 GHz
  • Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
  • 1GB DDR3 RAM
  • 12,1″ WXGA-LED display (1280 x 800)
  • 80GB 5400 RPM harddrive
  • 4-cell battery, 24Wh

Intel latitude XT2

There are of course plenty of fun options to access, like SSD harddrive, 5 GB RAM, 6 cell battery and so forth. These will hurt your wallet though. It might be worth mentioning that there is no optical drive in the standard configuration, but this is only available as an option. You’re also stuck with the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics circuit, no upgrade available.
