MSI has already displayed its new X-Slim series a couple of times this year and with an ultraslim format it really looks like a PC-adaption of the Apple MacBook Air, marketed as the world’s thinnest computer. We have seen no less than three different X-Slim models so far, but new information suggests that ASUS will display similar models. Just like MSI’s two last unveiled models, X340 and X600, ASUS will make slim notebooks based on Intel’s CULV platform.

Centrino Ultra Low Voltage isn’t the fastest platform around, but the performance is noticeable better than with Intel’s Atom platform, while the power consumption is kept at very low levels.

What it means that ASUS has decided not to show any models yet is hard to say. We look forward to some tougher competition in this niche, which so far has been exclusive to those with thick wallets.
