Acer has great plans for the netbook market and even there hasn’t been any truly revolutionizing models so far new information suggests that Acer is at least trying to renew the platform. Pictures of what is claimed to be a new model of Acer Aspire One, noticeably slimmer, have appeared. The Acer Aspire One 10 of today is about 3.3cm thick, but the new model pictured here is only 2.4cm thick, which seem to hint that Aspire One has been using the treadmill.

Other than the slimmer exterior not much is separating it from other netbooks on the market, same ol’ Atom platform with Intel’s own 945GME chipset. The standard model only has a 3-cell battery and now that the case has been slimmed down we can only imagine that a bigger 6-cell battery would ruin the image of the computer.

We of course welcome slimmer netbooks, but if we can be picky, we want more to make it a complete platform. For instance higher resolution displays with Ion-like graphics performance, at the same price of course.
