Toshiba is a leading solid state drive manufacturer and earlier this year it announced a 512GB model based on 43nm NAND Flash memory chip. It’s not just the product specifications where Toshiba is aiming high, it hopes to grab no less than 30% of the total SSD market until 2011. To do this Toshiba has kicked the new manufacturing plant in the Philippines into production, while it already has a plant in Japan and another one in the Philippines which should help keeps costs low and production volume high.
It has not revealed any concrete information no how the manufacturing will be executed, for example different models in different plants, but you can count on Toshiba becoming a growing force and a company to reckon with on the SSD market.
