That AMD’s new graphics card Radeon HD 4890 is good for overclocking is hardly news. Those who are looking to push their Radeon HD 4890 graphics card to extreme clock frequencies is limited though, AMD has set some limitations. First of all you can’t up the frequency beyond 1000MHz in Catalyst Control Center, while the voltage of most cards will not be enough to go higher than 1000MHz. Some manufacturer like ASUS has launched its own softwares for increasing the voltages of Radeon HD 4890, but there are ways of doing this with software even with other companies’ cards.

At VR-Zone they have published a short guide on how to use Riva Tuner to increase the voltage and going past the 1GHz limitation.

The result was an impressive overclock of 1.13GHz using liquid nitrogen and voltage increase from 1.3V to 1.45V.
We have seen reports of Radeon HD 4890 overclocked to 1.2GHz stable on the GPU, with “only” dry ice and a GPU voltage at 1.425V using a BIOS voltmod.

The result below was published by Polish overclocker Xoqolatl;
