Intel released a new firmware for its Solid State Drives pretty recently, it corrected fragmentation problems with busy harddrives. The new firmware was very effective in benchmarks too and before going into the fourth quarter, and launch the second generation SSDs, it will lower the prices of current models. Intel will lower the price of X25-M and X18-M series on April 26th. Prices will be reduced by $50 to $100.
The price list published by VR-Zone reveal that the 80GB entry models will become around $50 cheaper and land around $335 in stores. The top models at 160GB will be cut even further but will still cost twice as much as the 80GB models.
Intel’s SLC-based E series will remain at the same prices.
