NVIDIA and AMD have both chosen to use two GPUs for its flagship cards. The difference is that AMD uses a single PCB, while NVIDIA uses two separate PCBs with GeForce GTX 295, one PCB with each GPU. AMD managed to fit two GPUs on the same PCB with its Radeon HD 4870 X2, which has turned out to be more convenient but most of all cheaper. NVIDIA seems to have realized this and is planning to launch a new version of GeForce GTX 295 in May, this version will use a single PCB.
At VR-Zone they have published rendered pictures of NVIDIA’s new GTX 295 and reveal that the new P658 PCB will be about 27cm long and require two expansion slots for its dual-slot cooler.
The GPU operates at the same clock frequency as today’s GTX 295, while the memory has been overclocked from 999MHz to 1100MHz.
The information posted says that the price will remain the same and the power requirements as well, with one 8 pin and one 6 pin power connector.
