eSATA memories are becoming all the more common. With the same base design as regular USB memories it is possible to store data on a small and highly portable memory. The problem with eSATA is that the interface lacks power, which forces eSATA memories to use USB ports as well for power. MSI has come up with a solution for this it calls Power eSATA.

About a year ago we reported on MSI’s combined eSATA/USB connector. It has now started to use the connector with more notebooks, also to save space.

As the number of eSATA memories have increased the need for a eSATA port with power, which has moved MSI to supply its latest motherboards with its Power eSATA port.

So far there is the AM3 board MSI 790FX-GD70.
