Hexa-core AMD Phenom II X6 priced under $200

AMD will release its first line of hexa-core processors in a month from now. Phenom II X6 and its six cores will broaden AMD’s assortments and show Intel that it is capable of producing six-shooters for the average Joe. Even if Intel’s Core i7 980X CPU spawns of the 32 nanometers node and AMD relies on the older 45 nanometer Phenom II architecture there is a great advantage with AMD’s platform, the price.

E-tailer Advanti, based in Bahrain, has shared the first prices for AMD’s Phenom II X6 processors and it looks very promising.

It revealed the MSRPs for the middle model Phenom II X6 1055T (2,8GHz) and a previously unknown Black Edition, Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition (3.2GHz). The latter should be the nameless model that appeared on a roadmap last week. Back then it was slated for Q3, but since Advanti has the price already it should be coming a lot sooner.

Phenom II X6 Six Core

1090T Black Edition: 125(W), AM3 Socket, 9MB Cache, 3.2 GHz Freq @ 295 USD

1055T: 125(W), AM3 Socket, 9MB Cache, 2.8 GHz Freq @ 199 USD

This means we should see at least two Phenom II X6 models under $200, 1035T and 1055T, while the flagship will cost right under $300.

That AMD won’t be competing with Intel in terms of performance is a given, but when hunting for six-core processors it is hard to say no to a processor costing just 1/5 of the competition. At the same time we eagerly await more information on the performance and overclocking potential of the new AMD processors.
