As expected AMD has launched its plan for covering up the availability problems of the new mid-range ruler Radeon HD 4770. As previously reported AMD decided to launch a new graphics card to give consumers hunting for a new card in the sub-$100 category an alternative to waiting. Radeon HD 4770 is a very good choice in this category, but they are simply too hard to find right now.
Well now we also have Radeon HD 4730 and as we suspected it is based on the older 55nm core RV770CE.
The shader units count up to 640, the GPU operates at 700MHz and is backed up by 512MB GDDR5 running at 3600MHz over 128-bit bus.
Radeon HD 4730 will end up slightly slower than HD 4770 in terms of performance, but the price reflects that, expected to land around $80. The first to launch a card is PowerColor with its PCS HD 4730. The card sports a third-party cooler from Arctic Cooling.
