Computex opens for the public on June 2nd in Taipei, Taiwan. NordicHardware is already there to cover one of the biggest computer events of the year and we took a quick tour to find some goodies from this year’s event before the public starts crowding the joint. That Computex has one more day to go before opening is easy to see; both through the lack of people and that trucks loaded with booth material are traveling down the paths or the repeating tests of sound systems everywhere.
Beside the tour of the exhibitors there was time for a press conference where the winners of COMPUTEX TAIPEI design & innovation Awards was presented. An award where innovation, aesthetics and idea is praised by the jury consisting of industrial designers and alike from all over the world.
The products being praised ranged from HTPC cases to projectors and processors coolers. A summarize of the winners can be found over at Computex website.
CPU cooler ThermalTake SpinQ was one of the winners
Other than that it was pointed out that Taiwanese companies made up 90% of the netbook market and that in these harsh times of ours the potential of these small machines is pretty good. Therefore this year Computex will go in the sign of the netbook. Mr. Walter Yeh agreed with Mr. Li Chang, Deputy Secretary General of TCA, when the future of the netbook appeared: 11″ display, longer battery hours and thinner.
ASUS Eee PC T91 is one o the new and thinner netbooks and was one of few products that was plugged in this morning.
We have running reports from Computex 2009 during the week. Even if it is nearly impossible to cover it all we will try to make it to the most interesting products during this year’s event.
