During Computex AMD was very clear that the development of the next generation graphics cards is going according to plans. The first DirectX 11 graphics circuits are expected to appear even before Windows 7, the first DX11 compatible operating system, is in stores. As expected AMD have to make some space for its new graphics circuits and it has now been revealed that it is planning to cut prices along the whole Radeon HD 4800 family in the third quarter.

Next month AMD will lower prices of not only the entry model Radeon HD 4850 but also the top models Radeon HD 4870 and HD 4890, which implies new and more exciting cards are on the way.

To get the right effect these will come in effect well before the launch of AMD’s 40nm architecture, but September could be the month we will see AMD’s new cards being reviewed.

Radeon HD 4850 soon even cheaper…

Radeon HD 4850 has already had its price adjusted after AMD had trouble shipping enough Radeon HD 4770 cards, but in July the 4850 cards will sink below $100 and some of AMD’s may become as much as $50 cheaper.
