iPhone 3G S, faster and up to date

With the latest version of iPhone, iPhone 3G, Apple managed to broaden its customer base to most of the Western world and it has long been rumored that Apple would launch a new model during yesterday’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. And it did, and for once Apple had failed to keep the rumor mill running, as it managed to put the head on the nail with a lot of the functions of the new iPhone 3G S.

iPhone 3G S is no revolution over the last generation iPhone. The S is short for ‘speed’ and it really says it all. As the rumors have stated the new iPhone sports a faster processor, higher data transfer rates with 7.2Mbps HSDPA but also better battery time.

“iPhone 3G S offers incredible speed and performance, on average up to twice as fast as iPhone 3G, so you can render web pages quicker and launch applications faster. iPhone 3G S takes advantage of the OpenGL ES 2.0 standard for stunning high-quality 3D graphics, making mobile gaming and other graphic intense applications better than ever.” 

Exactly how the specifications are different from the last phone is a bit unclear, but the information we published a while back seems to be pretty spot on.

The  digital compass was also listed along with the specifications in Apple’s official list along with the bigger camera sensor. With advanced autofocus and more user options for consumers and developers to use the camera module in applications, which becomes even more interesting with the video feature capable of recording at 640×480 pixels at 30fps.

Apple will start selling iPhone 3G S on June 19 but only the big markets, up until August when up to 80 countries can buy Apple’s new phone that like the old one will be available in Black or White designs, but also with more power beneath the screen. The prices will be $199 and $299, while the old iPhone 3G will become cheaper and become the low cost option.
