Digital forensics is something most of us have run into one way or another, hopefully not in real life. TV series with C.S.I. in the lead has given us an insight into the weight of digital forensics and it’s a market Dell is going after. Dell is still, but the question is for how long, the second largest PC builder on the world and has launched a new service for the police authorities. Dell’s Digital forensics service is a package that includes both hardware and software for assisting the police in handling digital evidence.
By using cloud technology different investigators can work on the same case at the same time and co-workers can easily track their progress even if not on the same local network. This is something that should save time for investigators but also open doors for valuable input. Especially important in terrorist investigations where you can only detain suspects for a limited time without proof.

Which police authorities that will turn to Dell’s service is uncertain but already today it will present the technology for the British Association of Police Officers. Dell has been working together with companies like Intel, Oracle, Symantec, EMC and AccessData to bring the project to life.
