OCZ looks to be one of the first Solid State Drive makers to answer Intel’s launch of its second generation SSD family. Intel’s X25-M G2 doesn’t just perform better than the precursor, Intel has also managed to lower prices by up to 30 percent. This put the competition in a tight spot. Intel’s was held back by its higher prices, but with the 34nm technology it became the market leader in terms of Price/GB. OCZ has chosen to answer with new price cuts for its Indilinx-based SSDs.

OCZ Vertex and OCZ Agility, that both use memory controllers from Indilinx, will be affected by the price cuts and OCZ Vertex 64GB aside, the new prices will put OCZ ahead of Intel in the Price/GB race. At Anandtech they have published a complete list of the new MSRPs.

Alas it will take a week or so before the new prices come into effect since the current stock of SSDs will have to be sold out first. But those who are hunting for a new SSD may want to hold off for a bit, especially since more companies should follow OCZ’s example.
