ASUS has a habit of announcing many, many motherboards at every new chipset launch, and Intel’s coming P55 chipset is no exception. We have looked at some in the past and now details on another model has surfaced, ASUS P755D Deluxe. The motherboard is, like most models from ASUS, designed for enthusiasts and overclockers, with official support for DDR33 frequencies up to 2133MHz, and it can do much more.

At PC Perspective they got a short preview by ASUS, where it overclocked two 2GB DDR3 modules to 2550Mhz. A very impressive number that is guaranteed to make the memory makers revise their offerings. With four modules active the highest speed it could reach was 2280MHz.

At the same time it pushed a 2.93GHz Lynnfield processor to impressive 4.67GHz using nothing but air cooling and 1.160V operating voltage. Considering both motherboards and CPU are still in the development stages we’re truly looking forward to what the retail versions can do.

Speaking of overclocking, ASUS P7P55D Deluxe will dust off an old 386 classic, the Turbo button. The power button of the case can be used to send the computer into Turbo mode with pre-set overclocking profiles.
