Asetek was one of the most typical enthusiast companies a few years back, with its phase change coolers and water cooling solutions. But much like competitor Chip-Con/nVENTIV (makers of the Prometeia phase change coolers) Asetek realized that it had to change its alignment and focus more on the simpler and cheaper water cooling technology, to finally give up the retail market and give OEMs its undivided attention. More and more have adopted its LCLC cooling and the trend is that water cooling is starting to become a given in gaming PCs.
Today you can find Asetek’s LCLC (Low Cost Liquid Cooling) system at several major manufacturers and their respective high-end machines but what is today considered an option will soon become standard if we are to believe Asetek.
“LC is so compelling for gaming PCs, I expect at least one leading OEM will go full attach as a standard offering. Providing LC as an option is required for any credible gaming system.”
Earlier this year, Asetek teamed up with Corsair to get the LCLC system out on the retail market (actually it was already available, but hard to find) and perhaps things are about to turn after some rough years.
