New Copperhead series – dual and triple channel DDR3 kits form Mushkin

Small preview image

The DDR3 market has long been dominated by memory kits with three modules. This is purely to make use of all three available memory channels of Intel’s LGA-1366 platform. But after AMD, and soon also Intel, launched platforms with “only” two DDR3 memory channels the dual-channel kits are starting to become more common. Mushkin has, though its new Copperhead series, covered both platforms by preparing both dual and triple channel kits that use more copper than your average memory cooler.

Mushkin has developed a new heatspreader that both looks kind of cool but also acts like thanks to the quite excessive use of copper. An expensive metal that offers high heat transferring properties. If Mushkin Copperhead is truly worth the extra cost the new coolers add to the price is something we should learn soon.
