Rumors have been going around for some time that Dell would soon announce an Android-based phone, and it has now been announced in China. The phone will battle other smartphones with specifications that both attract and confuse most buyers. The phones sports a 3.5″ LCD with impressive 360 x 640 pixel resolution and supports capacitive touch technology. The screen aside, there is 3MP digital camera with LED flash, which is rare among smartphones.
At the same time the phone is pretty handicapped by its wireless support where Dell has left out WiFi and 3G. Instead it has chosen to rely on 2G GSM and Bluetooth.
The phone has one microSD slot and 950mAh battery to top off the pretty unconventional list of specifications. The phone is expected to be exclusive to China, but Dell is most likely working on a successor better suited for the Western markets, but hopefully still using Android.
