As long as pigs don’t learn to fly and hell freeze over on the same day AMD will launch the first DirectX 11 graphics circuits this month. RV870 will be the first graphics circuit to reach us, also known as Cypress, in the forms of Radeon HD 5870 and Radeon HD 5850. We now hear that AMD will have the first DX11 graphics card with dual graphics circuits ready before the end of the year.
The graphics card will become the new flagship after AMD’s Radeon HD 4870 X2 and is expected to be named Radeon HD 5870 X2, and house two RV870 GPUs on the same PCB.
The graphics card, also known as Hemlock, will appear sometime in Q4 2009 and sport a bunch of video outputs (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI). Details on the performance of the graphics or even clock frequencies remain clouded.
Would this, although unconfirmed, would be true AMD will take a clear command of the graphics card market with an armada of DirectX 11 graphics card this year already.
