Xbox 360 was the first of the current generation video game consoles to launch and if Microsoft sticks to this schedule the replacement should be out in due time before the competition. Xbox 360 sports hardware quite similar to a regular PC and one of these is the graphics circuit. The GPU dubbed Xenos was developed by AMD, or ATI in those days. New stories add to year-old rumors that Microsoft has decided to award ATI the contract for the next generation Xbox.
Next generation video game consoles are said to be put on hold because of the economic climate and we shouldn’t expect any new consoles until 2011-2012. When it does arrive it will be with an AMD-made ATI GPU.
Depending on the development of the video game console goes it could be a chip made with 32 or 28nm technology that should offer plenty enough performance. The information hasn’t been confirmed by Microsoft or AMD but it all makes sense with AMD making the previous generation and its progress on the graphics market.
