Two of the most active motherboard manufacturers of today are without a doubt ASUS and Gigabyte. Both companies have launched an unhealthy amount of Intel P55 motherboards and it is now approaching the next step, but this time it’s the LGA1366 platform in sight. Both companies are about to launch new Intel X58 motherboards introducing the new storage interfaces SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0.

For ASUS it will be P6X58D Premium that we so far only have two high resolution pictures of, but the card uses the regular ASUS color theme, which we also saw with P7P55D-E Premium. The board has two USB 3.0 ports and two SATA 6Gbps ports.

Gigabyte raise the bar even higher with its EX58 Extreme motherboard. Except from supporting Intel’s LGA1366 processors the motherboard has been enriched with no less than four SATA 6Gbps and another four USB 3.0 ports. In other words twice as many as the ASUS board. This should of course mean higher production costs that together with a hybrid air/water chipset cooling could jack up the price.

Both ASUS and Gigabyte are expected to launch the new X58 motherboards in Q4.
