NVIDIA continues to work with the G2xx architecture and after launching two budget models it is time for a card in the lower mid-range segment. GeForce GT 240 is expected soon and will be based on NVIDIA’s GT 215 GPU using 40nm technology, and bringing DirectX 10.1 and PhysX support for accelerating physical effects, a feature NVIDIA happily touts.

The specifications of the cards have started leaking and we see a GPU clock frequency of 550MHz, and 96 shaders clocked at 1340MHz, making it quite clear that this is no way any kind of speed freak.

The graphics circuit talks to 512MB or 1GB GDDR3 memory over a 128-bit bus and will replace the GeForce 9600 series. The price should be around $80-90.
