AMD released a new revision of its processor flagship Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition last week. With a new and optimized C3 stepping the processor became more efficient and also seemed to promise higher overclocks. Turkish site Donanimhaber has showed some of the potential of the new processor by publishing a video where they overclock the processor to 6835MHz using liquid nitrogen.
We have already seen how AMD’s Phenom II architecture can do over 7GHz at AMD’s own overclocking events, but then it has been cooled by liquid helium and with hand-picked processors. Getting this close to 7GHz with “just” liquid nitrogen sure bodes well for future overclocking experiments with AMD’s new processors.
The movie is in Turkish and after around 2min they start the testing. The entire video can be found at Donanimhaber.
