Manufacturing advanced hardware have become a trademark of Taiwan and it is constantly making sure we know it. The National Nano Device Laboratories has presented plans for a joint Research and Development project together with the leading manufacturers of semiconductors in the country.
The goal is to develop a new 15 nanometer node for circuit manufacturing in the near future. To achieve this it has succeeded in teaming up Macronix, TSMC and UMC. The reason the government is financing this type of research and even make competing companies work together is simply to strengthen Taiwan’s status as a conglomerate for semiconductor manufacturing.
The future will show the results of the project and we will get to see hardware made with 15nm technology.
