Already at the launch of Radeon HD 5870 and the introduction of the Evergreen series AMD talked loud and proud about the coming Eyefinity6 Edition. The graphics card would have 2GB GDDR5 memory and no less than six DisplayPort outputs could be used for powering up to six high resolution displays (2560×1600 pixels) and not just for office use but also games.
The graphics card hasn’t been seen since then and even if the market for Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity6 Edition is pretty slim we are eager to see how a sole graphics card can handle games at 7680×3200 pixel resolution.
We are still waiting for AMD to release it to stores, but the first samples have already appeared on eBay. The graphics card is sold as ATI RADEON 5870 2GB EYEFINITY 6 Pre Release Card and have a “Buy It Now” price of 900 USD. A pretty big investment that requires six high resolution monitors for the full Eyefinity experience.
