WirelessHD now officially supports High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP). The current HDPC 2.0 specification was updated in 2008 to support wireless transfers, where Wireless HDMI is one use to extend the HDMI signal wirelessly. WirelessHD is now officially on the list and the DCP organization is open for more formats.
WirelessHD use the 60GHz band to send and receive signals and support resolutions up to 1080p, while WirelessHD 2.0 aims a lot higher with QuadHD and 3D.
WirelessHD can already be found in selected retail products, where Panasonic’s Z1 Plasma-TV is perhaps the best known. WirelessHD with official DHCP support should open doors for wireless Blu-ray players, we at least hope so.
WirelessHD with HDCP … we long for a wide adoption
